Haunted in Death/Eternity in Death by J.D.Robb

I love reading books and following characters on their adventures. I haven't read books for a while and I made a goal for myself to read at least one book a month. I thought I'll share what I'm reading :)

I like crime fiction and what makes In Death series different from my other favorite writers's books (Agatha Christie, Arthur Conan Doyle, John Grisham) is that it's futuristic crime fiction. Main character is Lieutenant Eve Dallas who lives in year 2060 and solves murder cases. Great thing about these books is that even if it is continuous story of characters but I can pick up any book and I don't feel like I have to read other books to understand what's happening. Every book is separate crime story but they are still connected and I do find some spoilers of previous books which do not bother me at all.

So this month I picked up Haunted in Death and Eternity in Death from the library. It's actually two short stories in one book. What I found unusual in these stories is a paranormal element in both of them. It's quite usual and expected in books under authors other pen name (Nora Roberts) or these two stories were simply the first ones I found like that.

I don't want to give any spoilers about the contents but you can check what the stories are about here.

What I liked about both stories:
  • Great and interesting stories
  • Easy reading
  • Unpredictable ending
  • Good change from usual series with added paranormal element
What I did not like about them:
  • The story lines feel a bit rushed and could have been developed in the whole books.
In general I love the writing style, In Death series story which continues through the books, unexpected elements (who's the killer, method of finding who killed and why, etc) and that it's still an easy read. I don't usually read short stories because they always feel rushed and more like underdeveloped story. I think it would be good to take on holidays when I want to read the whole story but I am not sure how much time I'll have for reading.

What are you reading right now? I always look for new and interesting books :)
